Racing season lasts from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and during that time period the track holds between nine and 13 races most Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Ruidoso Downs also hosts a spectacular summer concert series and a number of special
events – like the annual Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium – throughout the year.
Inside the adjacent Billy the Kid Casino, visitors will find 300 slot machines, virtual video Blackjack, and three unique dining options. Billy’s Sports Bar and Grill serves American pub food in a bustling but casual and relaxed environment. The smaller,
more intimate Billy’s Race Book caters to guests who want to watch and wager on local, regional, and national races and provides full access to the main restaurant’s bar and menu. Last but not least, the All American Turf Club offers premiere seating, great

Grindstone Stables caters to families and beginners, advertising excellent matching of riders to specific horses. Children five and older are permitted to ride alone, and children under five are welcome to ride with an adult for free. In addition to hour-long

Last but not least, for adults and older children in search of more than just a short trail ride, longer half-day, full-day, and even overnight camping tours can be arranged in nearby Lincoln National Forest. Sitting atop the back of a horse is a perfect way
to experience the Lincoln National Forest’s four mountain ranges, elevations ranging between 4,000 and 11,500 feet, and five different life zones.
